What is Forging?

Forging is a manufacturing process where metal is shaped by applying compressive forces using tools such as hammers, presses, or dies.

The process can be performed at various temperatures: hot forging (above the metal’s recrystallization temperature), warm forging, or cold forging (below the recrystallization temperature).

Forging improves the metal’s structural integrity, resulting in parts with enhanced strength and durability. This method is widely used in producing components for industries such as automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery due to its ability to create high-strength, reliable parts.

Forging Process & Machines

Forging is a manufacturing process that shapes metal using compressive forces. The main types of forging include drop forging, press forging, and roll forging, which can be performed at various temperatures: hot, warm, or cold.

The process typically involves heating the metal to increase malleability, then using hammers, presses, or dies to shape it into the desired form. Key machines used in forging include hydraulic and mechanical presses, forging hammers, and rolling mills.

This process enhances the strength and structural integrity of the metal, making it ideal for high-stress applications.
