What is Injection Molding?

Injection molding is a manufacturing process used to produce parts by injecting molten material into a mold.

 

This technique is commonly used for making plastic products but can also be applied to metals, glass, and elastomers. The process involves melting the material, injecting it into a pre-designed mold cavity, cooling it to solidify, and then ejecting the final part.

 

Injection moulding is highly efficient for mass production, capable of creating complex shapes with high precision and repeatability, making it ideal for industries like automotive, consumer goods, and medical devices.

Injection molding involves melting a material, typically plastic, and injecting it into a mold to form a part.

 

The process starts with feeding plastic pellets into a hopper, which are then melted in a heated barrel. The molten plastic is injected into a mold cavity where it cools and solidifies into the final shape. Key machines used in this process include injection molding machines (both hydraulic and electric), mold tools, and auxiliary equipment like hoppers, heaters, and cooling systems.

 

This method is ideal for producing high volumes of complex parts with excellent repeatability and precision.
